In this post, I’m going over the CZ P-09 Suppressor Ready in Urban Gray. This is CZ’s suppressor-ready version of the P-09, and I’ve put roughly 200–300 rounds through it so far. It’s been running great and has proven to be a very smooth shooting pistol that I’ve really enjoyed.
Let’s go over what comes in the box, the features that set it apart, and my experience with it so far.
Inside the case you get:
The magazines are standard 19-round capacity, but both of mine came with +2 extended base plates installed, bringing total capacity to 21 rounds per magazine. With one in the chamber, that gives you 22 rounds fully loaded, which is excellent capacity for a full-size handgun.
If you prefer standard base plates, CZ includes those as well.
One of the things I really like about the P-09 platform is that CZ gives you options.
Mine came from the factory with the decocker installed, but it also includes the manual thumb safety in the box. You can swap between them depending on your preference. Personally, I prefer the decocker and don’t typically run manual safeties, so that’s how I’ve kept mine set up.
It also includes interchangeable backstraps, allowing you to adjust the grip size to better fit your hand.
Compared to the standard black P-09, this Urban Gray suppressor-ready version includes:
The threaded barrel is ready for a suppressor right out of the box, and the thread protector has small notches that make it easier to remove if it gets stuck.
The raised night sights are necessary for suppressor use, and they are noticeably taller than standard pistol sights.
This model comes with tritium night sights.
They’re bright and very easy to pick up in low light. I currently use this as a nightstand gun, and the sights are clearly visible in the dark.
It did take a little getting used to because the front sight sits higher than what I’m used to on some of my other pistols, but once adjusted, they work very well.
The magazine release is on the left side for right-handed shooters.
The decocker and safety levers are ambidextrous, which is a nice touch.
The takedown lever is located on the left side as expected.
The double-action trigger pull is longer and heavier, as you’d expect, but it’s smooth and manageable. The single-action pull is crisp and feels great. Overall, the pistol has been very smooth shooting and comfortable to run.
Takedown is straightforward and similar to other full-size service pistols.
From there, you have access to the barrel and recoil spring for cleaning and maintenance.
It’s simple and easy to maintain.
After putting a few hundred rounds through it, I can say it’s been a very smooth shooting handgun.
When I first paired it with my SilencerCo Osprey 45, I did experience some initial cycling issues while running suppressed. However:
After bringing it home, giving it a thorough cleaning and lubrication, and returning to the range, the issues disappeared. It’s been running well since.
It’s possible the brand-new recoil spring and suppressor piston spring contributed to those early hiccups, but after proper maintenance, it has performed reliably.
I’m currently running this with a SilencerCo Osprey 45, and it pairs very well with the P-09. The raised sights clear the suppressor, and the overall setup feels balanced.
I know some people don’t like using NFA items for home defense, but for me personally, the benefits outweigh the downsides. Being able to preserve hearing in a defensive situation is important to me.
Overall, I’ve been very impressed with the CZ P-09 Suppressor Ready in Urban Gray.
